1. Write and tell the story in their own words with the correct sequence of events.
2. List the characters of the story.

PROCEDURE:

Starter (Set Induction) (Time: 3 mins):

1. Teacher greets the students.

2. Teacher asks if students have been to Singapore.

3. Teacher shows a picture of Tanjong Rhu.

4. Teacher announces the lesson for today.

Development (Time: 30 mins):

1. Teacher distributes hand-out notes to the students.

2. Teacher gives 2 minutes for students to briefly read the notes.

3. Teacher shows a 2 minutes video about the synopsis of Tanjong Rhu.

4. Teacher recaps the story to the students.


6. Teacher introduces the characters using the Prezi presentation.

7. Teacher returns to the synopsis to list out the issues in the overall story.

8. Teacher begins the activity for today.


Activity (Time: 25 mins):

1. Teacher instructs the students to take out their notebook.

2. Teacher writes the instruction on the whiteboard. “Tell the story in your own words in no more than 130 words.”

3. Teacher gives students 15 minutes to write a brief synopsis of Tanjong Rhu in their own words.

4. Teacher asks students to read out their synopsis.

Closure (Evaluation) (Time: 2 mins):

1. Teacher recaps the synopsis, characters, and issues for the short story.

2. Teacher remind students to bring the hand-out notes and the short story for next class.

  1. Understand and tell the story in their own words...Probably delete 'understand'

    Any websites on special people?

    Teacher instructs the students to take out their notebook...since this is web based, could take advantage of using online tools.
